I think youll find that was Street Fighter actualy. Mortal combat always has and always will be the underdog.

Try researching the actual sales figures of both titles and then compare them. I think you'll find Street Fighter has always outshon Mortal Combat. You see, the problem mortal combat has always had and it seems aslo will, is the fact that not only is it shit, but its also a generaly poorly produced title.

Mortal Kombat was the one that had all that blood and the sorta 3Dish loook.Street Fighter was still stuck in the 2D pixel form at that time.If it has anything to do with the first fighting game then that goes way back to the karate game on NES but that's not it.It's also games like that that made the ESRB start.

Well, if we're gonna talk about ESRB then you cant even point out mortal combat as being revolutionary. Robocop vs Terminator was the first ESRB related game therefor RVT was the one that made it start. All MK ever did was jump on the "bloody" bandwagon. + MK was never in 3D anyways (until recently, and even theyre poor efforts), well, no more than sonic on the mega drive was.

NB - the first ever beat em up was called "Kung Fu" and was not "Way fo the Exploding Fist" as so many think.
