OK, so you want to connect to DRO (or any other RO server id imagine) but you are covered by a network firewall/proxy server that you dont control. your network admin guy either cant help or is just a jerk and wont (what a douche)
So how do you do it yourself? id say easy, but it isnt. unless you have someone telling you what to do. like i am for you. so lets get started:
1. PATCHINGfirst you need the KRO and Sakray clients.
if you have the newest versions of rag_setup.exe and sak_setup.exe then go on to step 2.
If you dont then:
Visit the
How to Connect topic and download the ones listed there.
so if you are behind a firewall/proxy, i assume you cant patch. try normal patching a few times anyway just to be sure as it uses mostly common ports.if it fails this means we need to patch manually. all the update files can be found at:
http://public.www.planetmirror.com/pub/ragnarok/under patch and sakpatch.
also this website has the sak patches
http://files.uoo.ru/RoPatch/SakPatch/WOW. that is a LOT of files. i know. and it is annoying as hell to download each one individually. so we are going to go get DAP (Dwnload Acelerator Plus) to help us with that. get it here:
http://www.speedbit.com/install DAP and figure out its basic functions (if you are confused look at the web site)
now go to the pages of patch files and locate the first update you require. (check your setup release date to figure out on what date you need to start at) right click one and select "download all with DAP" a list will come up of files avalible and a check box next to them. check off all the update files you require on the page (you need ALL of them from your release date on) make sure you dont check off any of the other files such as a jpg image or something. just the files that have dates at the start of the name. repeat this for all pages on both ragnarok and sakray patch sections until you have everything from your 2 release dates on.
DAP will set up a line for downloading each patch. and download all of them without you clicking every link. they all go to my documents/my completed downloads.
NOTE: this may no longer work with planetmirror.com they MAY have changed their hosting service a bit.
once you have all of them, move them all to a folder on your desktop or somthing called backup. now COPY(not move) these files into your RO folder.
run the patch clients to patch. if you get random errors while loading them then use the Sakup.exe on the site with the patch files:
http://public.www.planetmirror.com/pub/rag...Patch/Sakup.exeif that doesnt work you need a more recent client. everytime it fails, recopy all the files to your RO folder and overwrite the others (some get deleted)
2. INSTALLING DRORefer back to the
How to Connect guide and look for the Patch Client.
3. CONNECTINGok now you have a fully functional RO client. but the firewall/proxy still blocks you from connecting to the server. well its time to "storm normandy with a breadknife" bypass the firewall.
to do this we are going to "tunnel" through the firewall using two applications called freecap and HTTP-Tunnel. first, download the latest versions of the two programs at:
www.freecap.ru/eng
and
http://www.http-tunnel.com/html/solutions/...nel/client2.asp(get the free version first but you might want to buy it to increase your connection speed)
first, install HTTP-Tunnel on your computer and open it. go to settings--->configure firewall. here you can either specify your proxy server info or choose autodetect. mine was athena 8080. yours may be different. autodetect works for me though. click the test button and verify that the proxy was accepted. if you dont have a proxy then click the circle that says "no proxy, only a firewall"
after that the log file should update itself and at the end (if successful) the last line should say RIP: using proxy mode or somthing like that that lets you know it worked. if you are unsure, then look at the box in the bottom right corner. it should say IP received with some number
next install and run Freecap. go to file--->settings. on the proxy settings tab, type "localhost" (no "") into the default proxy server and for the port use 1080.
EDIT: you must also go to the file--->settings----> programs tab of Freecap and change the "DNS name resolving" to "local then remote"
save your settings and exit to the main view of freecap. go to file--->new application and add the DragonRO.exe to the list.
4. AT LAST!now, for the last step. run HTTP-Tunnel and verify that it is connected. then, run Freecap and double click DragonRO.exe from the freecap list (or whatever exe you use. you have to add it though) and you're done! if you did it all right you should be connected!
