Title: The Demons Guide to Common Sense
Description: God knows alot of people need it.

Demon Larkham - October 24, 2006 10:12 AM (GMT)
Since a disturbing amount of people just don't use their brains when trying to navigate the greater pixels of Ragnarok Online, I'm going to put a few frequently asked questions' answers up, and even a few tips for anyone who needs it.

Now for some anonymous tips.

English and Grammar are the language of choice around here. You should use at least legible grammar if you want people to listen to you. \\\\"wat\\\\" and \\\\"what\\\\" are only one letter apart (that's one keystroke), and guess how much your I.Q. goes up when you type that one letter? Did you know that typing \\\\"2\\\\" is actually more keystrokes than typing \\\\"to\\\\"? Well, now you know, so make use of the knowledge. The more you rape my native language, the less likely I'll be to help you.

Begging will only get you killed, screamed at, bothered, or otherwise shunned. Don't beg for stuff. If you're starting out and you need zeny, go to pay_dun00 and kill Skeletons. The Skeletons drop rings. These rings go for about 5k a shot. in the beginning of the game, that's good scratch, especially for how easy the enemies are.

\\\\"HAY GEE EM LAWLZ\\\\" is not acceptable. Just don't do it. If you look, each of the characters, GMs included, have nice text pop up when you hover your mouse over them. Most are in white, GMs are in yellow. If you use your brain a little and read, then you'll find that the \\\\"hay GM lawl\\\\" has a name. Use it. 'Nuff said.

\\\\"i nid liek 5 jellopies...\\\\"
\\\\"buying 5 jellopies...\\\\"
\\\\"i nid liek 5 jellopies...\\\\"
\\\\"B> jellopies.\\\\"
\\\\"lol, whu sell jellopies...\\\\"
is the most vile, annoying thing you can do anywhere. You can communicate to everyone within sight that you want 5 jellopies without spamming my chat window. \\\\"How?\\\\" you ask? Simple. Make a chat.

\\\\"Chat: lol, B> common sense\\\\" does not belong on the street. Chats go on the sidewalk. The sidewalk is the off-colored area where all the venders are vending. That's the sidewalk, that's where you make your chats. No where else.

\\\\"wher du i trane / tank meh lawl\\\\" are comments that I don't accept. You can politely ask if anyone has training suggestions, or if someone would like to help you train, but demanding other people's time for you is not only rude, it's stupid. Grow up, it's a high rate. You should be able to solo from 1 to 300. Now it's alright to ask, but do so politely, without words like \\\\"liek\\\\", \\\\"n00b\\\\", \\\\"f4g\\\\", and \\\\"plz\\\\". Learn to train, learn to type, learn to live. Social skills are required, even online.

\\\\"I agree and accept these Rules and Terms of Service.\\\\" No matter who you are in RO, you had to click this button at one point in time. This is the thing that says you've read the rules and understand them. That means you are then subject to these rules and their punishment should you break them. Everyone is required to play by the rules, and you're no exception. Chats in the street, littering in Prontera, disrespecting a player or GM... They're all against the rules. Don't break the rules, or else you're out of here.

Anything else will be added as I see fit. That is all.

Decent guide, at worst. A longer one with more wit and less obviousness might be even better! ^_^

Good job, anyway.

Honestly, that is what I've been trying to tell people.
"Use full sentences! Don't ask me for stuff please! (Well, I do use plix when I'm messing around or talking to multiple people..) Please don't make me tank or leech you!"
And so on. Also, a bit off-topic... do you have any characters in-game? If so, can you please post a list in your signature or something like that? Thanks! ^_^

Thing is, Ragnarok is an online game- so asking people not to talk in 733t speak is like telling french children to write in kanji.

I understand that slang is what you would call "bad grammar" but its slang all the same, its easy to understand and when it comes to online games, grammar isnt the most important thing to worry about.

733t speak is just another collection of "slang" words that the world have taken up. We say "maccas" instead of Mcdonalds, "Smokes" instead of Cigarettes, even "Don't" and "Won't" are considered "slang terms".

Slang is not impolite, and its not used all the time out of laziness or rudeness, Its simply a way of speaking, reading and writing that we have adapted into our lives, like Sliced Bread!
