I. Introduction

Hello everyone. I am Demon Larkham, also known as \"Demon\", \"Larkham\", \"Demon Larkham\", \"Buttons the smexual Rabbit\", and my favorite of all, \"Demon Buttons Larkham The Smexual Atomic Mutant Rabbit From Hell\". As we merchants and pretenders that think that chatrooms make them look like a jewish person with a nice peachy office and no wheelbarrow attatched to the pockets of his or her pants, people usually hate buying from us. Why? Because our prices are too hiiiiigh, because we're not giving a good deeeaaaal, et cetra et cetra et cetra. How do we change this? How do we get people to buy our things? Do polar bear give the horny eskimo STDs? All that but the last part will be answered in my third guide ever created.

Yay.

II. The Utilities of Marketing

Now, what are the utilities of marketing? Why should I care? How will this help me? Do you look fat in that dress? Let's make this a tiny FAQ before we begin the explanation. Here, are commonly asked questions in this feild.

Q: What are marketing utilities?
A: Marketing utilities are certain tools used to increase profit and sale of items.

Q: Why should I care?
A: Don't you wanna make alot of money quicker than the fat guy next to you?

Q: How will this help me?
A: ..... By.... Helping you.... Yeah... Just shut up and read the rest o.o\"

Q: Do I look fat in this dress?
A: Yes.

Q: What are the marketing utilities?
A: I answered that already...

Q: No no no, I mean... What are they? The different ones?
A: Oh! Their \"Place, Time, Information, Form, and Information\".

Now that we've gotten through with that, let's give a brief explanation of each utility, and how can it help you.

Place - Having a product where customers buy it.
HDTHM (How Does This Help Me): Doing this, will of course bring you more customers, seeing as they won't have to walk far to get to you, or it is in a place that is very convenient for them, in which case they will most likely stop and buy something if they are in good terms with the products you are providing.

Time - Having a product available at a convenient time/date of the year.
HDTHM : Let's be honest with eachother. Will you really be around to buy something from somone at 2a.m on a school night? Of course not. If you make your product available to somone at a convenient time of day, or of the year, he or she will be more likely to buy that item from you, rather than not show up..... At all....

Information - Communicating with the customer, providing them with information.
HDTHM : Some people are real A-Holes. They ask and ask about the items your selling (in a chat room) instead of buying the damned item. The people in those chatrooms are usually even dumber. \"Just shut up and buy!\" You say. \"WAT IT DO!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!11!!11!1111!?/1/!?1?1/1!\" says the disgruntled male pinoy customer. What should you do? Provide information of course! Shut the person up by giving him whatever information he wants.

Form - Changing the raw materials into something that has value.
HDTHM : .... Okay... What would a person be more likely to buy... A few peices of steal, a ruby, and the things to make a damascus... Or a damascus? Thirty Seven peices of oridicon for his/her weapon of massive destructive force (Whip)... Or a +10 weapon of massive destructive force? This should be common sence o_o

III. Pricing, and how do I get people to start buying?
Well, pricing is a very important thing for a person. It has to be affordable for people. Although yes, people are stupid. There are some people who buy that [1] Cap for over thirty seven hundred mill. There are some people who buy that +7 [1] Chain Mail for ninety seven bill. But stupid people like that are far more rare than a young girl who's still a virgin. So, \"How should I price my items to make people buy them\"? Simple. When you buy the item, remember to abuse discount. Sell the item for at the very least fifteen to twenty percent more than what you bought it for. If you see somone who is selling that item for cheaper than you yourself can buy it, buy from that merchant. Yes, you are providing that merchant with service, but you are also saving yourself the trouble of buying that item from a NPC for much more.
The rest I shall cover in....

XI. The Halley Smoot Tarrif
Bleh, sorry. I just like saying that word. It's pretty damn funny, no? Hahaha... Smoot... Okay, but seriously, i'll cover the rest in...

Stratedgies

I. You scratch my back, I rip you off and sell your items for more : Now, this is the same stratedgy I explained before. If you see a merchant selling his/her items for less than what you pay at an NPC, buy from that stupid little merchant, and sell that item for more. Not only does that kill off one of your competitors, but you saved money on a purchas! Pat yourself on the back, and laugh at how overjoyed the stupid merchant is when he finds out he made 47z, while you make 150z with HIS/HER products.

II. Why work for it, when you can buy? : Okay. No alchemist shop. No blacksmith shop. Hmmm. What are these players supposed to do? Spend time making a character to gather items? Waste their \"valuable\" time getting those items, just to use them and go hunt for them again, and you sit back and make no money from their hard work and sweat aside from a better look at your girlfriends sweaty cleavage? Fear not! I have a solution! Why don't /you/ becom the alchemist or the blacksmith shop! You can gather the items for those poor little merchies and make a large profit from pricing those items more than triple their sells worth. People might not be stupid enough to buy iron for thirty seven billion a peice, but alot of them are stupid enough to buy them for one thousand a peice.

III. I'm in a piccle... Hmmm, but what happens when somone eats the piccle? : I know what you might be thinking sometimes. \"Damn, the person next to me is selling his items for cheap, but I can buy the item cheaper at the store! Oh damn... What do I do? He's making more sales than me! I need to lower my prices\". No. Stupid choice. Why is it a stupid choice? Think of a jar of piccles, made by the company \"ABC\". Well, the piccles made from company \"XYZ\" gets lonely, looking at the people eat the other guys piccles, taking them one by one by one, eating them up like a pack of wild hiyenas. But what happens when those piccles are gone? All eaten up? Simple. They have no other choice but to move to XYZ! Don't lessen your profits because some guy thinks he's smart. \"I have low prices, so I can screw that other guy over! Derherherherhuuuuuur!\". Basically, he's opening the way for you to get more money.

IV. Where oh where did that merchy guy go? : When setting up a location, make sure that you place it in a moderatly populated spot. Not too many people, but people still go there. Not only will you get more attention, but alot of people will most likely go and buy from you. Though it's not the very fastest way of gaining items, it's still a good deal to use this method. Remember, the merchy unnoticed is a merchy that has to go home to a PMSing wife with four babies and no food. Although he'll most likely get a pretty, soft papery thing that has \"Divorce\" in big red letters on it!

I dont get any of this.

Are you talking about ragnarok?

no really.. ill read it again but. im confused. bear with me

Luv Spexa

Demon Larkham - October 25, 2006 07:38 PM (GMT)
Yes, I am indeed still talking about Ragnarok. I am hoping that the few merchant classes on this server will learn how to gain money at a more considerable pace by applying simple real life guidelines. I was hoping that this guide would also help the overpricing of items would decrease by a considerable amount...

.... Although the chances of that happening are at the very most a 5.15% chance.

ImmunityBow - October 25, 2006 09:39 PM (GMT)
People used to buy from me all the time when I still had my Alchemist =P.

Condensed whites 1k FTW!

CuisinartBlade - October 25, 2006 11:13 PM (GMT)
well, considering my alchemist used to have an 800k turnover per vend cycle, i'd say i did fairly well lol
