| KAMI (KAH-mee; Male or Female): You may have noticed that many Japanese gods have hyphenated names containing the word Kami. Kami isn't an individual but a concept. The word denotes a specific manifestation of divinity as related to things and phenomena in the natural world such as Grass and Trees, Fire and Wind, Rivers, Clouds and so on. Bear in mind that Kami describes the principle of divinity inherent in all things. This divine principle reveals its transcendent nature through various symbolic personifications. Though this idea is most often thought of as a generalized name for the gods, Kami is not a verbatim translation of the word "God". Short but musical (as well as easy to remember), Kami makes a fine cat name for male or female alike. |

Quick or long resume of characters past:
Born in a small town, Jaylor lived peacefully with his father for 10 years. He was a normal kid, being raised to farm, eat properly, and have the usual suspicion of magicians, who usually kept to themselves up at the university, involved with politics.
When he was 9, he discovered his magic. He was good at it, a natural talent. But, the townspeople didn't have the need for a magician, and they were fearful. Luckily, there was a university trained Healer in town, who rescued young Jaylor from the townfolk, and brought him to the university in the middle of the grand city of Coronnan. There he was trained with the other apprentices for many years to become a magician.
But as he quickly found out, his magic was not like others. You see, the main magic thrown in this kingdom was dragon magic. The dragons generate their own magic, which floats in the very air we breathe. The communal magic requires gathering this dragon magic, forming it into spells, and throwing it back out again. Jaylor could do this, but it was more difficult for him. He found it easier to use his own personal magic, and he used that to cover up for missed spells.
Yesterday was the last day of training. His masters had divised an exam that he could pass so he could qualify for a quest. After travelling out on his journey for a while with his pet cat he met up with some other travellers...
