Title: The bad kind of error
Description: >> I can only open dRO once!

Armin - February 20, 2008 02:20 AM (GMT)
Okay so I've patched everything I can in the dRO you dont have Kro or sakray package *cant find an kro only 2 sakrays one in english one in korean* and what happens is the first time I install dRO and let it run its fine. then when I close it and try to open again
the patching gets an error and I have to reinstall it all together to get it to work, Any solution or maybe its just vista hating me again...

The dRO full installer doesn't come with kRO exe because it's not necessary to play on DragonRO. The english sakray patches the same thing as the korean sakray, so only one is needed to patch.

When you try to run dRO again, what kind of error do you get? And do you get it from inside dRO, or right away when you open the patcher?

this is the two things I get after it says processing patch

and then this

and in order to play again I must reinstall the whole thing.I've redownloaded it 3 times
1 on vday 1 on saturday and 1 on monday, still does this. and the sakray patcher only goes up to 1-29 then says completed and ready to play.

Are you running it in Administrator mode?

I GOT that error! *edit* Wow so never mind the last post I made. */edit* I still get that error, but mine says "Fatal Error 2007-12-12.rar"

There needs to be a way to run the patcher without doing it as Admin.

There isn't a way to run the patcher without running as admin.

This is one of the biggest problems I have with how Vista is set up. The system files, the program files, everything, are locked away to make sure no program can ever change them. No virus can get access to change your files, but then again neither can you.
Any. Single. Time. That you need to do something that changes system or program files, like patching dRO for instance, you need to do it by running as admin. Nothing we can do about that.

2007-12-12 was a rather big patch, so I can see Vista thinking it's the be-all and end-all of evil viruses out to destroy your computer, but 2008-02-11 was actually quite small. I'm not sure why that would error. Then again, I don't see why any of these should error. Vista really isn't worth much.

Well thanks, gotta say you guys are on the ball all the time lol. Thanks so much now I can play dRO easily once more!... I hate that run as admin stuff cause im the only person on this comp it shouldnt matter.

I wish there was a way around it, like a way to allow dRO to change program files or something, or like a way to turn off those warnings or blocks or something. Although I am glad to have them to stop a virus........

POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO FATAL ERRORS CAUSED FROM WIDOWS VISTA INSTALLATION!!!!!!!

Do not install dRO in program files. Instead install it into your Documents directory, it should in theory bypass the system restrictions that prevent patching correctly. Because you are allowed to change files in the Documents directory all the time (like re-saving a word file does not require admin approval). I have moved my entire Gravity folder into Documents, and I no longer need to "run as admin" so try that and see if it works. Post back and let me know, then I can post a solution in the help section for future users of Vista. ^_^

Or just go to the shortcut of dRO click properties and find something that you can click that says run as administrator, then just click accept and it goes through. Alot easier than installing over each time but yeah thats what I ended up doing. I tried that for RO 2 cept found out that I would need to do alot more with RO 2... Anyway I will try that tonight and see if that fixes it.
