Title: Wow. Stupid Ticket.

Hugo - March 13, 2009 08:02 AM (GMT)
this night, i received a ticket of 115$ and lost 3 driver's license point because my seat belt wasnt Okay. wtf? we were just getting out of a Mc Donald restaurant and I go in the car of another guy. and I was sitting in the back of the car, trying to put my belt on but wtf lol its just broken, i even showed to the police it was stucked lol. My friend started to drive while I was trying to unstuck this stupid belt and it seem I didn't got the time (cause its truely broken and I should have went in the middle back seat) so the police gave me crap for this. WTF seriously I still can't believe it. Now I understand why ppl hate cops that much, they are real bastard. How the hell was I supose to know that the seat belt was just broken? i was just trying to unstuck it to wear it and the police arested us for no damn reason , they thought my friend which was driving was drunk, he had 0% alcool in his blood. nothing. What do you guy think about it? should I complain for this? or im totaly screwed?

Kanoga - March 13, 2009 09:21 AM (GMT)
Looks like you need yourself an attorney.

Possibly, an ACE attorney.

Jaylor - March 13, 2009 12:12 PM (GMT)
Well there are tests for blood alcohol level..

If I were you I'd fight it.

Gohan - March 13, 2009 02:41 PM (GMT)
You can't really fight the ticket for not having your seat belt on, because it was off and just because it was broken is not an excuse for not having one on. I know some police officers personally and they would laugh if you tried to fight that. The drunk driving thing, you could fight but after the fact its almost impossible to prove that you were not drunk.

CuisinartBlade - March 13, 2009 07:00 PM (GMT)
fight it. if the cop doesn't show up you automatically win. if he DOES show up you can USUALLY do a plea bargain where you just pay a certain $$$ and not lose any points. either way you win.

Trunks - March 14, 2009 05:18 AM (GMT)
I don't think you will get away with the seat belt situation. The law says to wear a seatbelt, you weren't wearing a seat belt, you broke the law.

Pretty simple chain of thought. Doesn't matter if it was broken or not, the law doesn't care.

LOL you clearly don't know how the system works. i got a ticket for doing 106 in a 60. i broke the law. i fought the ticket and won. what you have to understand is that the law doesn't matter. what matters is how good your lawyer is lol. with something as petty as a seatbelt chances are the cop doesn't show up. if the cop doesn't show up you're automatically innocent. if the cop DOES show up you can speak with him and do a plea bargain. usually they don't wanna sit there listening to you bitch so they'll lower the charge. usually that means leaving your points and lowering the fine.

Kanoga - March 15, 2009 03:31 PM (GMT)
Man isn't it great that the law is the same everywhere right guys?

Gohan - March 15, 2009 05:05 PM (GMT)
In the state of Florida, police officers are required to pay the state for tickets that are fought in court if they do not show up to the case. So police officers ALWAYS show up unless there is something major going on and they cannot go.

Obviously, Nick, you do not know how the law works in the United States.

We are talking about Canada now.

And if what you say is true x) then I should try to fight it!

+ this is so stupid lol, - 3 point... when you pass over a stop, you lose 2 point and you could kill people. when you are not wearing your seat belt, its your own problem. its your choice to act dangerous on YOUR life. it wont kill anyone exept YOU.

Gohan - March 15, 2009 11:22 PM (GMT)
But if it is against the law, then you deserve the ticket, plain and simple.

I know that but laws are stupid, that is my point.

Gohan - March 16, 2009 09:58 PM (GMT)
Then change the law, and its not stupid to make a law that helps protect your safety while you are driving on the road. Its also against the law to rob a bank, but that is not a stupid law. Its also against the law to shoot your neighbor because you want too, but that is not a stupid law. Etc, etc, etc.

your exemple only talk about security of others. DUH. but the belt seat is your problem, if you decided to act dangerous on your own life, its your choice. your life is yours, not their. as long as you aren't troubling others lives.

Seat belt = you and only you
Robbing Bank = Others
Shoot your neightbour = Others

This is like suicide. if you ''murder'' yourself, then its too bad for you. if you murder others, then No, its not ''too bad'' for them. You need a law for this or else we would kill everyone which DID NOT want to die.

Gohan - March 17, 2009 03:33 AM (GMT)
So say you are in a car, you do not have your seat belt on, you have an accident and fly out of your car because you did not have your seat belt on, and cause someone else to have an accident because of that, and they die. But all the while if you had your seat belt on they would not have had an accident and died. Then it would be your fault that it happened, and it would be the result of you not wearing your seat belt.

And not all laws are designed to protect others. I do not think it is a stupid law to require age limits on those people who can own guns. Or who can drive. Or other things along those same lines.

What you seem to be missing, is the law says you must wear a seat belt. You did not have a seat belt on. There was another seat with a working seat belt. You did not choose to sit in it. You broke the law, you should have to pay the price. And next time, don't let your friend start driving until you are buckled up. Or drive yourself.

Again to protect others from noobs with gun or noobs driver...

And yea, you well resumed on how stupid is the law lol

btw your exemple with the seat belt, if you fly away and cause another accident.. this is a bit extrem. you got more chance that an airplane crash on your house.

Gohan - March 18, 2009 03:55 PM (GMT)
Well regardless of whether or not you think the law is stupid you still broke it.

Say for instance you think it is dumb to not allow bots in RO, and I catch you botting, and ban you for a period of time. You might think that is stupid, but it would have been against the rules. And you needed to be punished. The same thing applies here, you broke the law, that is that, you have to pay the consequences.

Just because you don't like a law doesn't make it the law. Now stop argueing about this and either go and fight it in court hoping the cop doesn't show, or pay your f**king bills.
