[edit - I misspelt something in the poll question, I know I did.]
Allright, so I was thinking, as I was laying in bed, are women down trodden by society? Look at a few things, I think we should start with language. First off, the most obvious one. The married title. Mrs. Now it seems like an innocent enough prefix, but If you look at the grammar behind it, which is foregone in modern hand, as titles may not!! have any other punctuation other than the fullstop. So, if we give it grammar, it turns out as Mr's. Mr's. That means that its mr's wife. Why Hello, I'm Mrs Smith. Why Hello I'm Mr Smith's wife. Did you see that? Every day, upon introducing herself, Mrs Smith is degrading herself with a subtle sense of being owned. And, it was in the old days, the male supermacy was obvious, go here, do this, cook me some f**king eggs bitch. And perhaps with just cause? The man goes out, hunted the food, or earned the wages, bought the food and brought it back home. Ah. But the woman cooks, cleans and such. Yes, perhaps, but It was indeed the man that broke his ass working. "Oh but we give birth to your children neeh neeh neeh nag nag nag" Yes. A day of pure agony for a life of milk and honey. I know what I'd prefer. I'd rather shit out a 15 pound nightmare than break my ass all day every day, except sundays, god bless, to get a meagre feed for myself when I get home. And further more, the idea that a woman is allowed to hit a man, but a man is not allwoed to hit a woman. Too feeble? f**king eat some bacon. Or lard. Infact, scrap the bacon, if you cant take a direct backhand from your mother, you need to eat more lard, or dripping or what ever it is called. If a woman, raises her hand to a man, it is the mans duty to raise his hand to her. And if a man raises his hand to a woman, it is her duty to break a chair over his back. Violence is not needed in a relationship, words are far more fun. But, yes. Are women down trodden? Look at all the propaganda on television. I'm a woman, chief bio engineer of the Lebensraum genetic facility of Washington, and I'm only 32 years old. Blah blah blah. Look at me, I'm a chartered accountant, at 25 years of age. And so on. Do you see men in those "I am sucessful" propaganda shows? No? Why? 'Caus they don't need em. Tha's why. Is my entire attitude in this rant evidance of just how ... [adjective] they have become, or still are? Find out next week in the next exciting episode of " I'm still waiting for my pills"

Taku, I believe in repsonse to your concern that women are not nearly as trodden down as one may think. In today's society it's anyone's world. I'd like to believe that there is fair play in it for male and female alike, but there exceptions of course... I'm sure there are still housewives who serve their husbands loyalty, however most of them were probably raised to do so, and do it willingly. The marriage title is a tradition, there are many couples in the world where the woman calls the shots and barks down the law with righteous words of cruelity. But for the most part I'd think that women are much better off then how the world used to be... like racism, sexism still exists, especially in countries outside of the US. You take a look at the war in Iraq, while you may not support it, much good has happened in regards to women's rights. But hey... it's never going to really go away. It's something we all kinda live with, yah? Change is the only constant in this world... there is still room for improvment.
PS: I choose f**k off... becuase that is the only repsonse I found to be appropriate out of all five of them lol... I would have choosen, "No, women are not trodden on like dead babies," if there was such a selection.

You can't make a blanket statement to either argument, but for the most part women are treated fairly. Most people who think women are completely misreated and kept underfoot are either only looking at a very small part of the picture (i.e.; isolated, circumstantial, and uncoralating occurrences, etc.), or just have it out for men. Yes, I'm aware that was a blanket statement, but I think it was appropriate. There is a point where laws and regulations created for equality's sake create an inequality favoring the previously inequal side, which then creates just another inequality. When I, as a white middle class male, am force-fed guilt and indoctrination that holds that not only are women and people of other races are not only equal, but superior and favored, we have a major problem. I never owned a slave, nor have I ever wanted to. I never kept a woman from voting or joining the workplace, nor have I ever wanted to. As much as I am willing to have women and people of other races equal to me, I am unwilling to make them superior. Equality, remember?
yeah, I'm bored, w/e, excuse the long-winded post.
